Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Dominates Game Awards with Epic Wins!

Brace yourselves, gaming world—Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just blew the roof off The Game Awards 2025, seizing almost every accolade it was up for, including the crown jewel of gaming: Game of the Year! This phenomenal RPG from Sandfall Interactive left iconic titles like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in its wake, proving it's in a league of its own.

As the crowd erupted in applause, director Guillaume Broche took the stage, humbly acknowledging the "incredible team" at Sandfall Interactive, many of whom lit up the ceremony in costume! Broche’s heartfelt shoutout extended to the real VIPs behind the scenes: "the unsung heroes" who create YouTube tutorials, admitting with a chuckle, "We had no idea how to make a game before." Talk about inspiration!

Broche then turned the spotlight on his personal hero, Final Fantasy legend Hironobu Sakaguchi, citing him as the spark that ignited his passion for game development. In a bombshell announcement, Broche revealed a shadow drop release of the Clair Obscur DLC, sending ripples of excitement through the audience.

The accolades didn't stop there! Clair Obscur bagged awards for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best RPG. Hats off to Jennifer English, who took home Best Performance for her stellar role. The only slip-ups? Best Audio Design went to Battlefield 6 and Players’ Voice to Wuthering Waves. Still, this is a colossal achievement for the up-and-coming talent at Sandfall Interactive, whose debut title shows just how brightly a new star can shine.

Clair Obscur launched in April, side by side with Bethesda's heavyweight The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and still managed to carve its place, reaching 5 million copies sold by October! With a stunning 9/10 review from IGN, it boldly stands among the legends of RPGs, admired for its dynamic combat and gripping story.
