Zootopia 2 Rockets to Box Office Dominance, Surpassing Lilo & Stitch Live-Action!

Gamers and movie buffs, gather 'round! Disney's animated marvel, Zootopia 2, has raced past the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch to stake its claim as the second highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2025! This critter caravan has raked in a staggering $1.13 billion worldwide in just three weeks, standing tall as only the third film to smash the billion-dollar mark this year.

Much of this hefty loot was pilfered internationally, with China playing host to the richest heist, while the home treasure trove brims with $259 million! But it’s not over, folks, as Ne Zha 2 guards the apex throne with an astronomical $1.9 billion haul. Disney, already a titan in this billion-dollar game, continues its reign with past releases like Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana 2, and now, the double whammy of Zootopia flicks!

Zootopia 2 captured enthusiastic applause from IGN, scoring an impressive 8/10, thanks to its formidable bunny-fox detective duo diving deep into society's heaviest mysteries—and of course, dropping those classic animal puns.

Meanwhile, in the horror corner, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is clawing out $174 million in just a couple of weekends despite getting roasted by critics. Not likely to hit the first film’s $292 million victory lap from 2023, it’s a win for Blumhouse who cleverly turned a $36 million budget into box office gold. IGN gave it a gloomy 3/10, critiquing its approach to sequels and video game adaptations.

Other films in the running? Wicked: For Good is humming along with $468 million globally. Though, it’s trailing behind its predecessor Wicked (2024) that charmed with $758 million. Add Now You See Me, Now You Don't at $214 million and the faltering sprint of The Running Man at $68 million. Plus, Ella McKay stumbles in with a meager $2.1 million domestic start.

But hold your breath for one last explosive saga: James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash is gearing up to ignite the screens soon! Disney's aiming for ultimate hype with four distinct Avengers: Doomsday trailers to keep you hooked and heading back to theaters for repeat viewings.
